Poplar. What happens to a tree when it is cut?

Ask the townspeople how much the poplar lives on average. If earlier they talked about a hundred years and cited as an example “three poplars on Plyushchikha”, now the majority of citizens claim that 30, on the strength of 50 years. And as an example lead poplars that grow under their windows. The trees were planted in the 70s, in the 90s they had to be rejuvenated by pruning, and now the trunks of these trees are overgrown with mushrooms, the bark has flown around, the branches have dried.

In the city, many trees are cut down, but for some reason not old, dried, but young, beautiful, slim. A tall, overgrown tree seems dangerous, because it has a large sail area, and, falling, it can damage a lot of cars. Machines are not in brick garages, but in the open air. Garages that are well protected cars, everywhere demolished, and car owners overcomes concern for valuable property.

The tree was shortened, there is a bare trunk, but only a year will pass, and large shoots will appear on it. Big shiny leaves, which previously could be seen from the windows of high floors, now turn out to be close to us. And there are greens, and a lot of light. Good, yes?

But what really happened?

First, the city lost its shadow, and the moisture no longer condenses on the ground, the earth is burnt, dust storms begin. The hot summer air is saturated with toxins, a short walk can turn into a great disaster. The previous recommendation to walk in the fresh air to work and after it becomes absurd, and people rush to jump into your car and quickly get to the room. The car is becoming an urgent need, and people have to put up with the fact that in Moscow alone more than half a million cars are added per year.

Secondly, the tree deprived of krone ceases to purify the air. The more polluting machines, the fewer tree-cleaners. People get diseases, from allergies to cancer. Allergies blame the trees (poplar fluff, birch pollen) and destroy them, causing problems to grow exponentially.

Third, the non-branching wood dies off, and the tree turns into a bark tube. Inside is dust. Branches grow on the tube tree, which are heavy in themselves, and have the very high windage, which full-fledged trees can easily cope with. Trunks-tubes break down at the base or longitudinally broken by heavy branches. The tree, which could flaunt three centuries, for 10−20 years escaped from within mycorrhiza fungi and can no longer live.

Someone says that it is not necessary. From these poplars one harm. They were planted only because they grow quickly and multiply easily. It is useless and dangerous due to the fragility of trees with down-allergen. They should be replaced with normal trees.

Nothing like this! The poplar was chosen because it absorbs up to 45 kg of carbon dioxide per season, while the second most efficient tree, linden, is only 16.

Poplar, growing naturally, is not fragile, only individual small branches fall. I affirm this because a 200-year-old poplar was growing in our yard; it was calculated by annual rings, when alternatively gifted people sawed it. In my entire life, not a single large branch has been broken off. But if the poplar was cut, the dormant buds on the trunk awaken, and the branches that grew from them at the place of abduction do not have a natural solid structure, but at the same time they increase a huge mass. They also break off.

Pooh does not cause allergies. But he is a great adsorbent. He collects on himself other allergens and upsets them. It cleans the air perfectly. After the rain nails down to the ground, allergy sufferers feel relief compared to how it was before puffing. And what do they memorize? That the peak of the allergic reaction coincided with those same two weeks, when the down flew, and then everything passed. And they do not dare to suggest that it was due to the poplars.

Phytoncides of a poplar clear city air even in the winter when there is no foliage. From spring to autumn, this tree is a living clinic. We do not use the healing properties of poplars, because they are illiterate, but at any moment knowledgeable people can open our eyes to how many pharmaceutical preparations from pharmacies we brought to our homes in vain, because much better medicine has grown under the window. And while it stands under a window that is not crippled, our health is much better than it will be after bullying a tree and even more so after its removal.

Poplars are pruned because they grow back. If the poplars would die at once, like many other tree species, they would either not be touched or destroyed all at once, like linden trees on Tverskaya. But a trimmed poplar will not stand for 300 years under any winds. Pruning is the delayed destruction of poplar. So let's take a look at a dozen years ahead and imagine that the place where the tree is being cut is empty. Got better? Not? So maybe you should not mock a living creature?

To stand up for the defense of the tree is difficult. Nobody understands. On one defender there are three or five cheering on the fact that there will be no fluff. Workers with saws are very aggressive and are ready to carry out an order at any cost. And with this we need to do something, otherwise we will remain without poplars, the city will turn into a poisoned desert. For a start, you must at least hang out flyers, so that people find out the truth and that the fighters against the poplars have doubts. And then learn to go outside with whole houses, as soon as special equipment approaches the poplars for their destruction. And tell good stories about poplars as opposed to evil stories that professionally produce the media.

Poplar is the pride of the yard. The alley of poplars is the happiness of the street. We will help to understand this for those who do not yet understand.
